3 Day 4WD Kakadu Tour for families

Day 1 (L)

You will be collected from your Darwin accommodation at 7.30am for your private 3 day family 4WD Tour to Kakadu.

We head south along the Stuart highway and into the Adelaide River wetlands region. At 9am we join a Jumping Crocodile cruise on the Adelaide River. Watch these amazing creatures leap up for a feed, from the safety of your boat.

After the cruise, we visit the nearby Fogg Dam Conservation Reserve. These wetlands have international significance because of their beauty and natural ecosystems. A great variety of fauna can be found here throughout the year as well as a large variety of birdlife.

Continuing our journey along the Arnhem highway, we have a comfort and coffee stop and then make our way into heritage listed Kakadu National park. Kakadu is the largest national park in Australia, has some of the world’s finest rock art and a variety of habitats, including floodplains and savannah woodlands.

Once within the park, we make our way to the north towards Ubirr Rock art site. Here we walk through galleries of ancient aboriginal rock art, which your guide will interpret. Also learn about bushtuckers and  medicines before reaching the top of the plateau, where you can relax and enjoy the view over the floodplains.

Overnight accommodation- Bush Bungalows or cabin (both with en-suites) at Anbinik Resort ORfamily hotel room at the Mercure Crocodile Hotel

 Day 2 (B,L)

After breakfast we make our way to Nourlangie Rock, an ancient Aboriginal shelter, where we will exNourlangie Rockplore the area and the rock art. Your guide will lead you on an interpretive walk around the site.

Our next stop is the Warradjan Cultural centre, for an insight into the cultural history of the park.

This afternoon we explore Maguk (Barramundi Gorge and falls), where a scenic drive along an unsealed dirt road, passing giant cathedral termite mounds, leads to the car park and from here, we take a walk through a paperbark forest to reach the gorge. Once at the gorge, we can have a refreshing swim in the plungepool.

Overnight accommodation - Kakadu Lodge Cooinda - family motel room with en-suite

Day 3 (B,L)

An early start today (but well worth it !) on the 6.45am sunrise Yellow Waters wildlife cruise, with it’s abundance of flora and fauna. Keep an eye out for saltwater crocodiles !

After breakfast back at the lodge and check out, we travel to Gunlom, in the very south of the park. After a scenic drive in, on an unsealed dirt road, we reach a large plunge pool at the base of the falls, which is great for a swim. You also have the option to take the walk to the top of the falls, where pristine rockpools and a spectacular view await you.

Then we start making our way back to Darwin, with a stop en-route. We'll arrive at approximately 6pm and you will be dropped off at your Darwin accommodation.
